If two hosting plans look similar, compare what you will pay, operate and recover, not just the advertised storage figure. This checklist is for the last step before checkout. If you are still choosing between shared hosting, managed WordPress and a VPS, start with our hosting types guide.
List the applications you will actually run: a brochure site, WordPress, a shop, company email, or a custom app. Record how many sites and mailboxes you need now. Note any non-negotiable tools, such as cPanel, SSH, a specific PHP version or a staging environment. This prevents you from paying for capacity that does not solve your real constraint.
For a simple site that needs a familiar panel and email, compare shared hosting plans. If WordPress is the only workload and you want a narrower operating model, compare managed WordPress hosting. If you need root access or a custom runtime, compare VPS hosting. Check each product page and the final order form for the features of the specific tier you select.
Before paying, record the first-term total, the recurring renewal amount, the billing period and any domain, email, backup or migration charges. An introductory monthly equivalent can hide an annual upfront payment. A free or discounted first-year domain does not make future domain renewals free. Confirm the final currency and term in the checkout; do not infer them from a promotional card.
| Question | Where to verify it | | --- | --- | | What is due today? | The final cart total for your selected term | | What will renew, and when? | Recurring price and next due date in the order summary | | Are domain and email included? | The exact package inclusions and any separate line items | | What happens if I cancel? | Current service terms and domain ownership details |
Disk space alone rarely describes the bottleneck. Compare CPU, memory, inode, database and concurrent-process limits where the plan discloses them. Ask whether backups count toward storage and what happens when a limit is reached. For a shop, test uncached cart and checkout behavior; a fast cached homepage does not prove that dynamic requests have enough capacity.
If your site already exists, record current disk usage and peak traffic before choosing a smaller plan. If it is new, select a reasonable starting tier with a clear upgrade path instead of guessing a large future visitor number.
"Backups included" is incomplete information. Find out how often backups run, how long copies are retained, whether off-site copies exist, who can restore them, and whether a restore has a fee. Keep your own export of files and databases before any migration. For email, also check whether mailbox data is included in the backup scope.
Ask who handles DNS, SSL, mail records and redirects during a move. Our hosting migration guide explains the handoff points. A safe move keeps the old service available until the new site, forms and email have been tested.
Support availability is useful only if the team covers the issue you expect to raise. Check whether the plan includes server administration, WordPress plugin troubleshooting, malware cleanup or merely infrastructure support. Our WordPress malware scanning versus removal guide explains the questions to ask before treating a scanner as incident response. Record how to open a ticket and what information you will need to provide. Keep your domain registration and account access under your own control, even when someone else builds the site.
Choose the least complex plan that runs your present workload and has an affordable renewal and a credible recovery path. Review the actual cart before ordering. If you want to compare NamePo's current options, start with the hosting overview, then open only the one or two product pages that fit your workload.
